Wining
the Change Game
Ben Franklin is responsible for that little quip about death and taxes
being the only certainties in life. No disrespect to the man, but let’s
add change to that list. We live in a world that is constantly changing
and we as players are constantly required to change in response to our
environment, other players, and even the rules. In this session, participants
will be presented with a working model of understanding the process and
effects of change on organizations (and people) as well as the impact
of communication on organizational change. Everyone plays a role in facilitating
change in an organization as well as in our everyday lives.
Presenter
Tamara Gillis, Ed.D., ABC teaches at Elizabethtown
College in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, where she is associate professor
of communications and department chairman. Prior to earning her doctorate
from the University of Pittsburgh and joining the Elizabethtown faculty,
she served as a public relations director for health care facilities,
professional associations and colleges. Gillis’ research interests
include media literacy, civic journalism, change management, effective
organizational structures, art as communications, and the impact of new
media on culture. She has served as faculty in Swaziland, Namibia, and
the Semester at Sea international educational exchange program. Research
projects have led her to Namibia, Ecuador, Russia, Swaziland and a number
of other countries.
