Beating the Blues Out of
Project Management
Getting communications projects finished on time and within budget can
be a severe challenge. The project management discipline can give you
a fighting chance. This session will introduce you to several fundamental
tools and techniques for defining the work, figuring out when it must
and can be done, and tracking how well you are doing along the way. Come
learn how to be a hero!
Presenter
Berne C. Miller, PMP has more than 25 years experience as a project
manager. Certified a Project Management Professional by the Project Management
Institute in 1986, Miller has managed activities as large as a ten year,
billion dollar plus ship design and construction project for the United
States Coast Guard, as small as a multi-week software modification effort
for his current employer. In his spare time, Miller taught business and
management science courses as adjunct faculty for the University of Alaska.
He currently teaches components of the Austin PMI Chapter’s PMP
exam preparation course and modules of the University of Texas’s
Project Management Certificate Program. Formerly an independent consultant,
today he manages a portfolio of product development projects for Tivoli
Software, a division of IBM’s Software Group, in Austin.
